If you believe in human rights, you must stand up for human rights for everyone, everywhere.

Human rights, just as democracy can't be partial or conditional. Because if it is there is no human rights and no democracy.

Religion and politics

When religon becomes politics it suffocates all spirituality and thus the essence of religion. When politics becomes religon it feeds fundamentalism and extremism.

Islam is not the enemy

The war against fundamentalists and terrorists are fought by Muslims, everyday all over the world and they are dying in big numbers doing so. 

If Europe and the west makes this war against terror into a war on Islam, the war against Islamic fundamentalism and all other fundamentalism will be lost, including the fight agains western right wing extremism. 

Europe and the west must support their Muslim allies and make this war into a war for democracy, for human rights and for the open society. 

Who defends terrorism

I have never heard any European politician, European instutition or someone who represents any European mainstream media defending any terrorists. 

In contrast, "idiots"  are often heard condemning all Muslims and the religion of Islam for the acts of the few in its name.

It's a huge problem for our democracy that so many people lack so much of essential knowledge about our world and the ability to think beyond their own and others' prejudices. It's also a democratic problem that so many people in our union are ruled by hatred and propaganda instead of humanism and facts.

Nothing is more European then democracy.

Europeans have fought against, dictatorships, tyrants, ignorance, poverty and discrimination for centuries. Nothing is more European then democracy and diversity.                                     

Start the proses of democratising the EU

To start the proses of democratising and federalising the EU is the far most important challenge for the EU in 2015. It's the foundation for all other importent issues that face Europeans today and tomorrow. 

EPP and Fidez

How does this interest a liberal like my self? 

It's simple, the EPP have a family member called fidez, the governing party    in Hungary. 

The party and its president Victor Orban are strongly criticised by the EU becous of their anti-democratic reforms and Orbans flirtation with Russia and China. 

What mostly amasses me is how quiet the rest of the EPP family are about Orbans politics and goals. It makes me question the EPP and the hole families political and democratic agenda. 

If this situation don't harm the EPP as a hole I wonder what could. 

21 century

From a democratic point of view the 21 century haven't served the world particularly well.

Let's turn the tide together! 

The eurosceptic

For me, the definition of the typical eurosceptic, is a person who oppose any form of political, social and economic integration between European “nation-states” A person thats not willing to see any pragmatic, democratic or economical benefits from integration. The typical eurosceptic is often found in nationalistic movements and in very romantically, conservative groups where yesterday is more important then tomorrow and institutions are more important then people. Those movements, groups and individuals are blinded by an idea of how things are, instead of how things really are. Often delusionalised that they are above everything that is surrounding their isolated perception on how things are or should be and that there is a threat in everything that is new, different or partly in opposition to their worldview.

As you see, I don’t mention criticism towards EU systematics, democracy or politics in my definition at all. Why? To be critical, you must be constructive in your criticism and you must also offer constructive solutions or alternatives to what you are critical about, eurosceptics don’t do that at all, according to my definition above.

If you want change and reforms to better things of state, you must search beyond scepticism.. Then there’s the rest, fans of status qou.

The first is not depended on the second but the second depends on thefirst

Another speech by Cameron

Cameron did it again. Another speech, where the British PM think he has the right to blackmail the people of Europe. 

As a European I refuse to be quiet and let a national leader threaten us to take our rights away.

Cameron needs to turn his focus to the British debate about the British future because when Europe reform we reform together and it will happen on a mandate from the European people, not from one or two nation-states or leaders. 

Creating a populistic problem out of possibilities

The war against freedom of movement and "EU migrants" (citizens) that is led by David Cameron is a perfect exempel on how to make liberties and possibilities for all of us into a problem in national politics with the simple purpose to score short-term political points. 

The British PM is hiding behind the need for EU reforms to dismantle the very core of principles of the people's union when in fact the focus on EU reforms needs to be to strengthen democracy and citizens participation on EU level. Cameron wants to close doors that has been opened for citizens participation instead of open all the doors that needs to be opened.

The best way to govern Europe is with a democratic federal system that is based upon a European constitution that not only guarantees democracy at a European level but at all levels of gouverment. This is the reform that the entire union and its states need.

A celebration under dark clouds

Today is the 25th anniversary of the fall of Communism and the wall that divided  Europe and the world. 

I was 13 years old when I saw people with simple tools and bare hands, not only trying but actually tearing down the wall that captivated millions of Europeans in the grip of communism. What I saw in Berlin together with the fight for indipendence in the Baltic States and the struggle for liberation in Poland and in Romania helped shape my liberal and humanist values ​​that are such a big part of who I am.

In the 25 years that have past, democracy have grown strong roots in most eastern European states that used to be imprisoned by a communist dictatorship. Fast EU membership has integrated Europeans after decades of division by imaginary borders and walls. The economic and social development has followed and despite the financial crisis the integrated Europe have created the world's largest economy and social safety nets.

Unfortunately, the reactionaries and populists on both the right and left wing have taken a new grip on the people of Europe and they are doing what they can to strengthen internal borders, build new walls and divide Europe once again.

More politicians must fallow in Viviane Redings footsteps. Take action and demand that our leaders stand up for our   rights. 

Cameron wants to dismantle the people's Union

I fully support Chancellor Merkel in defending our freedom of movement against back stabbing Cameron who is trying to tear every part of the people's Union into shreds. Cameron keeps attacking the soul of European integration and solidarity. Everything that's dear to ordinary people. We must stop him!

Europeans deserve more freedoms, more opportunitys and more democracy. Not less!
