Islamism don't deserve special treatment

Islamism must be treated and fought in the same way as any other extremism and fundamentalism.

It would be directly harmful and counterproductive to single out certain groups as inferior or superior extremists.

As soon as "more democracy" and "greater transparency" are empty words, the fight is lost. We must therefore stand strong alongside the values of democracy.

Left wing populism VS progressive social liberalism

The alternative to the conservative, right wing politics that forced Europe in to austerity, isn't left wing populism. The answer for Europe is a progressive social liberalism with the values of democracy, solidarity and unity at heart.

A Europe without internal borders

I actually don't care about borders within the union. They simply don't exist to me.

The war against democracy

It's strange how fundamentalists from every corner of the political and the religious map constantly fertilize each other. The circle is closing and the good forces are choked.

This is where we are heading, if not all of us who believes in democracy and humanism stand together and show the world that we are the majority and that we are more united than all fundamentalists put together.

Yes, we are frightened of what they stand for but we aren't scared of them.

Fundamentalists are loud but their arguments are few if any. The only thing that is heard and seen is their fear and hatred against some fictional scapegoat or enemy. They are afraid of each other, afraid of the meeting and of the conversation, which explains their absolute struggle for homogeneity and war against any opposition.

Key to fight terrorism

Democracy is the key to fight terrorism, extremism and fundamentalism. Values is the strongest weapon there is.

A decade for political organisations and activism

Media are reporting about a lot of new nationalistic and rasist movements and organisations in Europe. It's a very sad development but rember at the same time that the anti-racist movements are there too and in most cases they organise a lot more people then for instance Pegedia do.
One thing is certain, this decade has become a decade for political organisations and activism.

I refuse to be silenced!

I refuse to be silenced by bigots, racists, fundamentalists, extremists and by the homophobic or any one else for that matter. What about you?

It's true but it's not an absolute truth

Democracy depends on you

Democracy isn't fair or humanistic on its own merits. Democracy is a system that creates conditions and possibilities for citizens to fill their society and community with the ideals of humanism and justice. Citizens have a major responsibility to shape their society in such a way that all people have the same basic rights and opportunities.

There is, however, incitements that are necessary for a democracy to work. And those are the uncompromising freedom of speech and rule of law. With these insitament follows several others as freedom of movement and freedom of association. Without these basic freedoms democracy is merely a façade without any real purpose.

Freedom of movement and EU democracy

Without freedom of movement citizens would lose one of the most important incitement for EU level democracy

Begging Roma's in Europe

We often read on social media, but also in other contexts that begging Eastern European Roma's are organized.

That would mean that the Roma beggars are vulnerable or even victims of trafficking and that they are forced to live under slave-like conditions all over Europe.

If that is the case it must be one of the largest organized criminal networks in Europe.

Why don't we hear about arrests, trials or investigations if that is the case?

Religion and politics

When religon becomes politics it suffocates all spirituality and thus the essence of religion. When politics becomes religon it feeds fundamentalism and extremism.

Islam is not the enemy

The war against fundamentalists and terrorists are fought by Muslims, everyday all over the world and they are dying in big numbers doing so.

If Europe and the west makes this war against terror into a war on Islam, the war against Islamic fundamentalism and all other fundamentalism will be lost, including the fight agains western right wing extremism.

Europe and the west must support their Muslim allies and make this war into a war for democracy, for human rights and for the open society.

Fundamentalism

Fundamentalism breeds more fundamentalism. It doesn't matter if it's religious fundamentalism or political fundamentalism because when the circle closes, as it always does,  the opposite poles meet.

Who defends terrorism

I have never heard any European politician, European instutition or someone who represents any European mainstream media defending any terrorists.
In contrast, "idiots"  are often heard condemning all Muslims and the religion of Islam for the acts of the few in its name.

It's a huge problem for our democracy that so many people lack so much of essential knowledge about our world and the ability to think beyond their own and others' prejudices. It's also a democratic problem that so many people in our union are ruled by hatred and propaganda instead of humanism and facts.

The struggle for democracy

The struggle for democracy and human rights is a struggle that we must keep on fighting even after the struggle is won.

Merkel VS Cameron

I expect nothing less from Merkel than that she takes an uncompromising stand for freedom of movement during her meeting with Cameron this Wednesday.

Nothing is more European then democracy.

Europeans have fought against, dictatorships, tyrants, ignorance, poverty and discrimination for centuries. Nothing is more European then democracy and diversity.

Discrimination

Discrimination belongs, along with nationalism and dictatorships in the European history books and not in our everyday lives.

Change

The only thing that is certain in this life is that people and societies do change. But we have the power to make it in to a positive change.

Build a sustainable future

If we are to build a sustainable and a better future, it must include everyone in our society.

What kind of Europe do you want?

Intergovernmentalism is cooperation between gouverments.
I want cooperation between citizens.
The first promotes closed doors, the second promotes and builds democracy.

What kind of Europe do you want?

It's a new year

It's a new year, let's make it in to a great year for Europe, for democracy and for peace!
