Is it time to say goodbye

If we don't see radical change in the UK after the May 7 elections, the rest of EU, seriously must consider to say good bye to the UK and ask them to rethink their commitment to the European future outside the union.

Britain has become a destructive force In Europe when it comes to democratic development, liberties and European solidarity. Enough is enough!

Start the proses of democratising the EU

To start the proses of democratising and federalising the EU is the far most important challenge for the EU in 2015. It's the foundation for all other importent issues that face Europeans today and tomorrow.

EPP and Fidez

How does this interest a liberal like my self?

It's simple, the EPP have a family member called fidez, the governing party    in Hungary.
The party and its president Victor Orban are strongly criticised by the EU becous of their anti-democratic reforms and Orbans flirtation with Russia and China.

What mostly amasses me is how quiet the rest of the EPP family are about Orbans politics and goals. It makes me question the EPP and the hole families political and democratic agenda.

If this situation don't harm the EPP as a hole I wonder what could.

The eurosceptic

For me, the definition of the typical eurosceptic, is a person who oppose any form of political, social and economic integration between European “nation-states” A person thats not willing to see any pragmatic, democratic or economical benefits from integration. The typical eurosceptic is often found in nationalistic movements and in very romantically, conservative groups where yesterday is more important then tomorrow and institutions are more important then people. Those movements, groups and individuals are blinded by an idea of how things are, instead of how things really are. Often delusionalised that they are above everything that is surrounding their isolated perception on how things are or should be and that there is a threat in everything that is new, different or partly in opposition to their worldview.

As you see, I don’t mention criticism towards EU systematics, democracy or politics in my definition at all. Why? To be critical, you must be constructive in your criticism and you must also offer constructive solutions or alternatives to what you are critical about, eurosceptics don’t do that at all, according to my definition above.

If you want change and reforms to better things of state, you must search beyond scepticism.. Then there’s the rest, fans of status qou.

Another speech by Cameron

Cameron did it again. Another speech, where the British PM think he has the right to blackmail the people of Europe.

As a European I refuse to be quiet and let a national leader threaten us to take our rights away.

Cameron needs to turn his focus to the British debate about the British future because when Europe reform we reform together and it will happen on a mandate from the European people, not from one or two nation-states or leaders.

Creating a populistic problem out of possibilities

The war against freedom of movement and "EU migrants" (citizens) that is led by David Cameron is a perfect exempel on how to make liberties and possibilities for all of us into a problem in national politics with the simple purpose to score short-term political points.

The British PM is hiding behind the need for EU reforms to dismantle the very core of principles of the people's union when in fact the focus on EU reforms needs to be to strengthen democracy and citizens participation on EU level. Cameron wants to close doors that has been opened for citizens participation instead of open all the doors that needs to be opened.

The perfect scapegoat

When something is wrong in Europe, anywhere in Europe the EU functions as the perfect scapegoat for national governments and politicians. We the voters are very quick in our great ignorance to follow. It can be about a single country's mismanaged economy, another country's corruption, poverty or, ironically a country's widespread nationalism.

The EU can be and has been a counterforce against all the above but is limited by nations that do not want to give the EU the needed transparency and control.

The EU is removing barriers and creating opportunities for common people, one example is the freedom of movement that simplifies and enables us to travel, study, work or settle within EU borders.
The free movement is frequently attacked by national politicians and nationalist movements.

The EU is in its nature a counterforce against the nationalist winds and against intolerance but the policy implemented within the Union are governed by the same governments who then blame their mistakes on the EU. A very strange and a rather bizarre situation.

European Parliament has a participatory power and lacks the ability to effectively control the " everyday " policy. Parliament however however the voters interests against the intergovernmental Council ( national governments ) and the Commission appointed by national governments. An example of how the Parliament has acted in voter interests is the ACTA agreement which was stopped by the Parliament.

Against this background, the EU must be democratised and reformed. But it can not be done if we the citizens don't understand the current systematics and the true purpose of the Union and of European integration
( unity in diversity ).
In the longer term, the schools has a huge responsibility in educating future voters but in the short term, we must demand more from politicians and institutions.

Today's Europe is sluggish, tired, and has a democratic deficit, but the EU is not to blame!

EU migrants

Stop calling EU citizens for "migrants" and "immigrants" when they move within the union! We are all European citizens!

A celebration under dark clouds

Today is the 25th anniversary of the fall of Communism and the wall that divided  Europe and the world.
I was 13 years old when I saw people with simple tools and bare hands, not only trying but actually tearing down the wall that captivated millions of Europeans in the grip of communism. What I saw in Berlin together with the fight for indipendence in the Baltic States and the struggle for liberation in Poland and in Romania helped shape my liberal and humanist values that are such a big part of who I am.

In the 25 years that have past, democracy have grown strong roots in most eastern European states that used to be imprisoned by a communist dictatorship. Fast EU membership has integrated Europeans after decades of division by imaginary borders and walls. The economic and social development has followed and despite the financial crisis the integrated Europe have created the world's largest economy and social safety nets.

Unfortunately, the reactionaries and populists on both the right and left wing have taken a new grip on the people of Europe and they are doing what they can to strengthen internal borders, build new walls and divide Europe once again.

Fort Britannia!

I'm horrified! It gets easier by the day to question if the UK have a place amongst friends in Europe.

We must see strong actions and condemnation from our British friends against Camerons European policies. Or is it already to late? Is it time for the rest of Europe to give up on the islanders and embrace our future without the UK?

Brexit gets closer by the day, but I'm afraid that the biggest supporters of a brexit aren't found amongst the British.

Europe in our time

Modern EUrope is based on common values such as democracy and human rights. The European unification and integration are and have been on a voluntary basis, often strengthened by pragmatic reasons.

But the time has come for all of us to reflect on our and EUropes future. Europe and the people of Europe are standing at a crossroad where all of us must make a active dissition together if we are to go back in history and time ore if we are going to chose to face the future together.

If we make the choice to stand united it can only be under a common democratic constitution that is based on the same values that started the unification and integration process 60 years ago.

From this point we prosper together or go down together.

No one should never again need to flee within or from Europe

No one should never again need to flee within or from Europe!
If Europe ever comes in to that horrible situation again that will force people to flee or hide, you and I will be to blame, because we have been given the responsibility from the last 70 year's of unification and democratic development to leave our children and grandchildren a even better Europe to live in.

Democracy and liberty creates true security and prosperity. To guarantee this for all Europeans we must stand united and we must keep on fighting against everyone who challenges our unity, our liberty and our democracy.

Those who say

Those who say that the EU isn't a peace project must of missed their history classes.

Those who say that the EU haven't spread democracy must of been sleeping for the last 35 year's.

Those who say that the EU haven't strengthened the economy in Europe are blinded.

Those who say that the EU isn't about the people never spent time in another member-state.

Those who say that the EU is more bureaucratic then democratic don't want to change that.

Israel and Palestine

You can't criticise one side of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict without doing the same to the other side. If you don't, I dear to say that you are a hypocrite with ulterior motives. You don't need to be particularly, historically well-informed to understand that both sides are lost in a maze, in total darkness.

The killings have been going on for over a lifetime and will continue to do so until the international community are ready to assume full responsibility for the security of the people living in Israel and Palestine. History demands that the international community takes this responsibility.

The Gaza conflict puts us at the end of the road.

Cameron needs a war with Europe

Cameron talks about battles and wars when he is talking about his European polices. A shameful and desperate tactic as Cameron is trying to keep focus away from the division in the UK and the serious political problems they need to face.

Cameron is displaying his shortcomings in both UK and EU politics. There is no doubt that Cameron have weakened both the kingdom and especially the British people. Ironically, it seems that Europe and European democracy have grown more united and alot stronger by Cameron's efforts to dismantle the same.

Cameron wanted a war against the people of Europe, he got global humiliation. The betrayal is against the British people.
